There’s nothing quite like capturing someone’s passion through the lens—and my recent branding photography session with Ishmael Alkazzaz (@that_cyclingdude), a dedicated cyclist from Haymarket, Virginia, was a perfect example. We kicked off the session at 9:00 a.m., having waited for an early morning storm to pass. Lucky for us, the skies cleared just in time, and the sun broke through, giving us that soft, golden light photographers dream of. It turned into the perfect morning for a branding shoot—cool, fresh, and bursting with vibrant color. We began our session with a walk from Ishmael’s home to a scenic nearby trail, which provided the ideal backdrop for natural light cycling portraits. During the walk, Ishmael shared how his love for cycling was inherited from his father, who taught him to ride and still joins him for weekend rides. This intergenerational passion for biking speaks volumes about the power of family and fitness—and it translated beautifully into authentic, heartfelt photographs.

As we moved through the wooded trail, we were greeted by families walking their dogs and children riding scooters. The warmth of the community made the shoot feel personal and alive.
